Computing
At The Meadows Primary School and Resource Base, we aim to prepare our learners for their future by giving them the opportunities to gain knowledge and develop skills that will equip them for an ever-changing digital world. Knowledge and understanding of ICT is of increasing importance for children’s future both at home and for employment.
It is our intention to enable children to find, explore, analyse, exchange and present information. We also focus on developing the skills necessary to use information in an effective way. We want children to know more, remember more and understand more in computing so that they leave primary school computer literate. Being able to use a range of technology safely is a major factor in enabling children to be confident, creative and independent learners. The children at The Meadows should have every opportunity available to allow them to achieve this through both discrete teaching of skills and a cross curricular approach.
Our Computing curriculum focuses on a progression of skills following the National Curriculum in digital literacy, computer science, information technology and online safety to ensure that children become competent in safely using and understanding, technology. These strands are revisited repeatedly through a range of themes during children’s time in school to ensure the learning is embedded and skills are successfully developed.
